Earlier on Friday, as Palestinians queued for aid in Gaza, Palestinian officials said two Israeli attacks – one in central Gaza and a second in northern Gaza – killed dozens of civilians.

According to the Hamas-run health ministry, at least 29 people were killed in the two separate incidents and 150 others were injured while waiting to receive aid.

In the first incident, Palestinian health officials said an airstrike on an aid distribution center in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza killed eight people.

In a second incident, Israel opened fire on crowds waiting for rescue trucks in northern Gaza, killing at least 21 people and injuring more than 150, the health ministry said.

The Israeli military said it was investigating both incidents.

The events came two days after U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Wednesday that Israel must put the well-being of Palestinian civilians “first” as it wages war against Hamas in Gaza.

Militant group Hamas said on Thursday it had presented to mediators a vision for an armistice deal based on a halt to Israeli military operations in Gaza, among other measures.

On the same day, the Israeli military reported ground operations and air strikes in central and southern Gaza Strip.

The IDF said the operations included a raid in Khan Yunis to destroy a rocket launcher.

On October 7, Hamas militants crossed into southern Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking about 250 people hostage. After that, Israel began to take military operations to eliminate Hamas.

On Wednesday, Blinken reiterated that Israel must prioritize the safety of civilians in Gaza. He also met via video conference with ministers from Cyprus, Britain, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, the European Union and the United Nations to discuss a new maritime corridor to deliver aid to Gaza.

On Thursday, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said Washington should put more pressure on the Israeli government to promote aid to Gaza.

“We certainly expect the U.S. government to continue to exert pressure and put more pressure on Israel to open its borders and not [impede] Humanitarian access,” Borrell told reporters during a visit to Washington.

“What everyone recognizes is the fact that there are clear barriers to [of] Those who control borders provide humanitarian access [of Gaza]who is the Israeli government,” he added.
