(Reuters) – Microsoft’s search engine Bing, browser Edge and advertising services are likely to fall outside the scope of Europe’s Digital Markets Act (DMA), Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

European watchdogs concluded the products were not effective enough to be regulated as part of a five-month-long investigation into the market, the report said.

This comes as a relief after EU antitrust regulators said Microsoft’s financial support for ChatGate-maker OpenAI could be subject to EU merger rules.

However, the company is expected to announce steps to comply with the DMA regulation that affects products such as the Windows operating system and professional networking platform, LinkedIn.

Under the act, which all big tech companies must comply with by March 7, companies will have to treat their services and products the same way they treat competitors.
