Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella will visit India on February 7-8 as part of his annual visit and is likely to meet AI startups and discuss new developments in AI opportunity.

“Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella will speak to the Indian developer community and technologists about new opportunities in artificial intelligence,” the company said in a statement.

Puneet Chandok, president of Microsoft India and South Asia, said in an internal email a few weeks ago that Nadella’s visit reaffirmed Microsoft’s commitment to leveraging technology to increase opportunities in the country.

During his visit to the United States last June, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with prominent American and Indian technology executives, including Nadella, Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and Apple CEO Tee Tom Cook.

Nadella’s office later issued a statement outlining his meeting with the prime minister.

“An important topic is the power of technology, especially artificial intelligence, to help improve the lives of Indians,” Microsoft’s statement said.

“India has one of the most dynamic developer and startup ecosystems in the world, and Microsoft remains deeply committed to the growth of Indian technology that will impact Indian and global markets,” it added.

Meanwhile, Microsoft has reached the coveted $3 trillion mark, becoming the second company after Apple to achieve this feat.

Microsoft’s market capitalization reached $3 trillion for the first time in its 48-year history. The company’s shares rose 1.5% in Nasdaq trading as the valuation reached the milestone.
