Mercedes-Benz C300d discontinued in India, here’s why

Mercedes Benz India has recently decided to discontinue the C 300d, the top diesel model in its fifth-generation C-segment lineup, reports Team-BHP.com.

The C 300d was launched about two years ago alongside the base-spec C 200 petrol and C 220d, offering a high-performance diesel engine with a mild hybrid system.

However, the German luxury carmaker has now decided to streamline its offerings in India. The C 300d is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder mild-hybrid diesel engine shared with the C 220d.

The C 300d’s engine is more powerful, producing 261 hp at 4,200 revolutions per minute (rpm) and 550 Nm of torque between 1,800 and 2,200 rpm. Mild hybrid technology provides an additional boost of 15 bhp and 200 Nm.

The C 300d was launched at a price of Rs 61 lakh (ex-showroom) and is targeted at enthusiasts looking for a powerful and efficient luxury sedan.

New C-Class lineup:
