India hit a new high in chess on Monday morning as Gukesh D became the youngest player in the world to win the Candidates Championship. The 17-year-old Gukesh made history and also entered the World Championship finals. As the whole of India celebrated Gukesh’s victory, industrialist Anand Mahindra paid tribute to the teenage chess prodigy for his extraordinary “artificial intelligence”. In his post on social media, Mr Mahindra also highlighted that Magnus Carlsen was famously wrong in his predictions in the Candidates Championship.

Sharing Carlsen’s pre-match predictions, Mr. Mahindra emphasized that the Norwegian expected Gukesh to perform poorly in the match, but the Indian ended up winning the match. While acknowledging that Carlson’s predictions before the start of the game may have been correct, it was the way Gukesh continued to learn as he progressed that made him the winner.

Posts by Anand Mahindra on X (formerly Twitter).Read: “Here are Magnus Carlsen’s predictions for #candidates2024

“Maybe Magnus wasn’t so wrong when he made his prediction. I think it shows that Gukesh is evolving at an incredible rate. When he plays Ding Liren, he will evolve even further.” Gukesh’s intelligence is not Nothing artificial but AI is essentially a learning machine and so is Gukesh, no matter how old you are, keep learning!

“No other source of #MondayMotivation except @DGukesh”.

With this victory, Gukesh will challenge China’s defending world champion Ding Liren in the World Chess Championship. He is now the second Indian after Vishwanathan Anand to compete for the classical world title.
