Virat Kohli teases Shikhar Dhawan during RCB vs PBKS match©X (Twitter)
‘Comeback man’ Virat Kohli showed his credentials in the shortest format of the game, beating Kings XI Punjab by 77 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Monday. Kohli was not only prolific with the bat but also entertained everyone with his antics on the field. The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) man had a cheeky joke with Kings XI Punjab (PBKS) captain Shikhar Dhawan. Kohli’s comments were captured on the stump microphones while he was batting for Bengaluru.
Virat can be heard saying through the stump microphone: “Senti kyun ho raha hai, kya ho gaya (Why did you become sentimental, what happened?”). The comments seemed to be directed at Dhawan, who was defending in the cover zone.
It all happened during the catch of PBKS spinner Harpreet Brar. It is not clear what was the background of Virat’s comments. Here is the video:

After the match, Shikhar Dhawan admitted that it was Virat Kohli’s bad catch that cost the team the game.
“It was a good game, we got back in the game, but we lost again. We were 10-15 points short and I played a little slow in the first six rounds. Those 10-15 points gave us Paid the price and dropped the ball well. I’m happy with my runs but I thought I could have played a little faster in the first six overs, that’s the only feeling I had. We also lost wickets Wicket, we lost two wickets in a row and that put pressure on us.”
In the second innings, on the second ball of the first over, England star Jonny Bairstow dropped a catch from Kohli before the former RCB captain opened his account. The RCB superstar then scored 77 runs in just 49 deliveries with the help of 11 fours and 2 full balls.
“Virat scored over 70 runs and we lost a first-class catch and we paid the price. If we had taken that catch, the momentum would have come from the second ball. But we lost momentum there and then we It comes at a price,” he added.
