Madonna’s mother died of breast cancer when she was five

Madonna had some very special audiences at her latest concert.

The 65-year-old pop diva performed at Amalie Arena on Thursday as part of her ongoing Celebration tripas she took a moment to shout out to her cousins who were in the audience beside her late mother.

“Another mention, I have two cousins in the audience tonight,” she announced in a fan-made video circulating on social media.

“I’m not pointing them out. I’m just saying my mother is their aunt and hasn’t seen them in, I don’t know, maybe 25 years,” she revealed.

“I hope you enjoy tonight’s show,” she added, referring to the show’s tribute to her late mother, Madonna Louise Ciccone, who died of breast cancer in 1963 . Madonna was only five years old when her mother died (at the age of 30).

In the tribute, Madonna also paid tribute to the biological mother of her adopted son David, as well as mothers in general.

“This part of the show, and this part of my life, is very important to me,” she explained to the audience.

“Everything I’ve done in my life has [being] a mom. I don’t want to sound cliche or anything because it’s a full-time job,” she said.
