Conspiracy theorists are linking the 4.8-magnitude earthquake that struck the New York area on Friday to a rare total solar eclipse estimated to occur on Monday, April 8.

Although no casualties were reported, the earthquake that struck the northeastern United States was the third largest recorded in the region in the past 50 years and the strongest to hit New Jersey in more than 240 years.

  • Do not shout or scream as you may inhale dangerous amounts of dust
  • Click on a pipe or wall to alert someone to rescue you
  • Try covering your mouth and nose
