Lok Sabha polls: More than half nominations rejected in Noida Ghaziabad

Nominations of 60 per cent candidates in Ghaziabad Lok Sabha elections and nearly 56 per cent in Gautam Buddh Nagar elections were rejected after review on Friday, according to local officials .

The Ghaziabad district election office said in a statement that 35 candidates had submitted their nominations and 14 of them had their applications approved.

In neighboring Gautam Buddh Nagar, the district election office said it had received nominations from 34 candidates, of which 15 were found valid.

There were a total of 69 nominations for the two constituencies, of which 40 have been rejected. Data shows that Ghaziabad’s nomination rejection rate was 60%, while Gautam Badnagar’s nomination rejection rate was 55.89%.

Those still vying for nomination in Ghaziabad include Atul Garg of the BJP, Dolly Sharma of the Congress Party, Nand Kishor Pundir of the BSP, Anand Kumar of the Rashtra Nirman Party, Anshul Gupta of the Rashtriya Jan Karmath Party, Subhashwadi Bhartiya Samajwadi Party Dhirendra Singh Bhadauria, Jagdish Yadav of the Samaj Vikas Kranti Party, and Pooja of the Recall Party.

Apart from them, six independent nominees Abhishek Pundir, Avdesh Kumar, Aurangjev, Kavita, Natthu Singh Chaudhary and Ravi Kumar Panchal are also in the fray, according to the official list.

In Gautam Buddh Nagar, those still in contention include Mahesh Sharma of the BJP, Mahendra Singh Nagar of the Samajwadi Party, Rajendra Singh Solanki of the BSP, Rajeev Mishra (Jai Hind National Party), Naresh Nautiyal (Bhartiya Rashtriya Jansatta), Manish Kumar Dwivedi (Akhil Bhartiya Parivar Party), Ran Singh Dudee (Super India Party), Narvadeshwar (Subhashwadi Bhartiya Samajwadi Party), Kishor Singh (National Party), Bhim Prakash Jigyasu (Viron ke Vir India Party) and Km Shalu (Loktantrik Janshakti Party) party).

Parag Kaushik, Mahkar Singh, Mohd Mumtaj Aalam and Shivam Ashutosh are contesting as independent candidates from Gautam Buddh Nagar.

The last date for withdrawal of nominations in Ghaziabad and Gautam Bad Nagar is April 8 and the constituencies will go to polls on April 26. The two constituencies in western Uttar Pradesh have a combined electorate of around 5.5 million.
