West Indies fast bowler Shamar Joseph got off to a terrible start in his IPL career as he ended up conceding 47 runs in 4 overs, including 22 in the first over of the tournament. Joseph, who played his first match for the Lucknow Supergiants, was taken to the cleaners by the Kolkata Knight Riders batsmen and did little to help the bowlers at the Eden Gardens, where he looked completely clueless. His last delivery of the first over cost him 15 runs as he bowled 2 no balls, 2 wide balls and finally Phil Salt hammered him for a huge 6 A long ball, exacerbating his pain.

Joseph conceded 7 runs in his first 5 deliveries and though Yash Thakur missed the catch on the last ball, it didn’t matter as the bowler went out of bounds. Joseph tried to hit the ball outside off-stump but ended up conceding the ball and then another, leading to a boundary.

Things got worse for the young cricketer as his next attempt also became a no-ball due to a boundary and ended up as a single ball, costing the bowler and his team 15 runs.

After the match, LSG captain KL Rahul spoke about Shamar Joseph and his struggles.

“It was a proper hammering in those days. Games like this are hard to digest, we have seen it in the IPL and every team goes through this.
