A campaigner at the center of a row over anti-Semitism in the Metropolitan Police has criticized “outrageous” comments by a former senior police officer who said he would consider arresting him for assault.
Gideon Falter, chief executive of the Campaign Against Antisemitism, gave an interview to Sky News about Kay Burley at breakfast after footage emerged of a police officer restraining him Crossing the road near the pro-Palestinian march in London. Because he is an “open Jew”.
The officer also told Mr Falter that he was “concerned about people’s reaction to your presence”. Mr Falter was seen wearing a Kepa hat near the parade on Saturday 13 April.

Former Metropolitan Police Chief Superintendent Darbabu said he had watched the full 13-minute video of the incident on Sky News and saw a “different encounter” to that described by Mr Falter.
Babu said that if he had been responsible for overseeing the march, he would have considered arresting the anti-Semitic activist for “attacking police officers and breaching the peace.”
Mr Falter responded: “I think it’s a very outrageous thing and I think it’s a very outrageous thing to give any credence to.
“I’m Jewish. I was crossing the street.”
