According to sources, properties belonging to the accused involved in the clashes that took place in the last two days are being demolished.

13 arrested, more than 20 properties demolished

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday said 13 people have been arrested for the alleged attack on a group taking out a vehicle rally in Mira Bhayandar area adjacent to Mumbai on the eve of the idol consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

“All unauthorized properties, places belonging to the accused will be demolished. Five JCBs were called, three of them were used. A total of 20-22 illegal constructions were demolished. These were roadside structures on footpaths. There were some temporary food stalls. The demolition operation has been stopped for today,” sources said.

What happened in Mira Road?

Violence broke out in Naya Nagar area on Sunday when several cars and bikes carrying saffron flags with Jai Shri Ram written on them were attacked with stones.

A clash broke out between members of two communities during a vehicle rally in Naya Nagar area around 10.30 pm on Sunday night, in which 10-12 participants in three cars and an equal number of vehicles were raising slogans praising Lord Ram.

However, when some of them burst crackers, a group of people came out of their homes and beat the rally participants with sticks and also attacked their vehicles, he said.

The police immediately intervened and the attackers were dispersed, following which an FIR was lodged with the Naya Nagar police against the attackers under Indian Penal Code section 307 (attempt to murder) and other offences.

However, in the second incident of violence in Thane district in less than 24 hours on Monday, another procession taken out in Naya Nagar police station limits on the occasion of the idol consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya was again pelted with stones. By scoundrels.

An unknown number of people participating in the procession and policemen providing security to the march were injured in stone pelting in Mira Road area.

Videos of the incident on Sunday evening and Monday afternoon also went viral on social media.

After the incident, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis said that there would be “zero tolerance” against anyone trying to disturb the law and order situation in the state and would be given strict punishment.
