In a bid to provide major relief to the public, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has directed the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to open the Dwarka Expressway for traffic. According to reports, the electronic mode is expected to benefit commuters in the coming weeks.

Reacting to the highway, Union Minister and Gurgaon MP Rao Inderjit Singh, who met Nitin Gadkari, said instructions have been issued to the authorities and will be implemented soon.

It is not yet clear when the expressway will open. However, the regional manager of NHAI said that the safety review of the road is in progress and once completed, the newly constructed highway will be opened for public use.

“We have asked the Highways Minister to open the Gurgaon stretch so that people do not get affected due to traffic jams and congestion, and he agreed to the proposal,” Sing was quoted as saying, according to details shared by HT. The Dwarka Expressway is expected to cost Rs 9,000 crore and will be divided into four sections. The first two sections, with a total length of 10 kilometers, have been constructed in Delhi, while the third and fourth sections, approximately 19 kilometers long, are located in Gurgaon.

The highway route starts from Shiv Murti near Mahipalpur on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, passes through Dwarka Sector 21 in Gurgaon, and ends on the national highway near Kherki Daula.
