“The test results have been reviewed by two leading cardiologists and, to date, no apparent cardiac cause has emerged from these thorough investigations.

“Frieda was subsequently fitted with a monitoring device to record her heart function and will now gradually resume a training programme.

“Once Frieda has been monitored for a full week, her normal training will be closely reviewed and monitored before a decision is made on whether to return to competition.”

Arsenal have said the Norwegian will not join the national team ahead of Friday’s European Championship qualifier against Finland.
