Ranchi:

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Thursday nominated its Shikaripada MP Nalin Soren for the Dumka Lok Sabha seat, making clear that jailed former chief minister Heman Hemant Soren will not contest from this constituency as earlier speculated.

The party has also fielded Tundi MLA Mathura Prasad Mahto from Giridih Lok Sabha seat.

“The party has decided to field Nalin Soren from Dumka seat and Mathura Prasad Mahto from Giridih,” the JMM leader said.

The BJP has nominated Sita Soren, a former JMM MLA and sister-in-law of Hemant Soren, from Dumka constituency reserved for Scheduled Tribes.

Notably, the saffron party re-nominated sitting MP Sunil Soren from Dumka on March 2 but later withdrew his candidacy to unseat Sita Soren .

Sunil Soren defeated JMM president Shibu Soren in the 2019 polls by a margin of 47,590 votes.

Sita Soren, the eldest daughter-in-law of three-time MP and JMM patriarch Shibu Soren, joined the BJP last month.

She claimed she was “ignored” by JMM and left in “isolation” after the death of her husband Durga Soren in 2009.

Congress on March 27 announced the list of candidates for three Lok Sabha constituencies – Lohardaga, Khunti and Hazaribagh.

Kalicharan Munda, Sukhdeo Bhagat and Jai Prakashbhai Patel will contest from Khunti (ST), Lohardaga (ST) and Hazaribagh seats respectively.

Preliminary seat-sharing agreements have been finalized for all 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state, according to Bloc India leaders.

According to preliminary information, the Congress will contest from seven seats while the JMM will contest from five seats. They said the RJD and CPI(ML) would field one candidate each.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation Organization on March 30 appointed Vinod Kumar Singh from Bagodar seat as the three-time MLA from Kodma Lok Sabha constituency in Jharkhand.

The BJP announced candidates for 13 seats and left Giridi to the AJSU party.
