Five years on Pulwama attack: PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi pay tribute to martyred security personnel

On the fifth anniversary of the Pulwama terror attack, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday remembered the fallen soldiers and said “we will always remember their sacrifices for our country”. In a heinous suicide attack in 2019, 40 Indian security personnel were killed when Pakistan-linked terrorists rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into their convoy.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also expressed his condolences to those who lost their lives in the attack.

On February 14, 2019, terrorists attacked a convoy of 78 vehicles transporting over 2,500 Central Reserve Police Force personnel from Jammu to Srinagar, resulting in the death of 40 Central Reserve Police Force personnel. The attack is believed to have been carried out by the Pakistan-based and aided terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), led by internationally sanctioned terrorist Masood Azhar.

In a retaliatory strike, the Indian Air Force bombed a suspected terrorist camp in Balakot, Pakistan.
