Exercising in the evening may have more health benefits in preventing obesity

Sydney:

While mornings are traditionally considered a good time to exercise, a new study on Wednesday suggests that engaging in physical activity in the evening may have more health benefits for obese people.

The findings, published in the journal Diabetes Care, are based on wearable device data that tracked 30,000 subjects for nearly eight years.

Researchers at the University of Sydney in Australia found that people who engaged in moderate to vigorous aerobic exercise (which increases heart rate) between 6 p.m. and midnight had the lowest risk of premature death and death from cardiovascular disease.

Lecturer Dr Angelo Sabag said: “Due to a number of complex social factors, approximately two-thirds of Australians are overweight or obese, putting them at significantly increased risk of major cardiovascular diseases such as heart disease, stroke and premature death. ” PhD in Exercise Physiology from the University of Sydney.

In this study, the team not only tracked structured exercise, but also focused on tracking sustained aerobic exercise for 3 minutes or more.

They found that frequency was more important than the total amount of physical activity per day.

Additionally, the team observed (also based on previous research) that physical activity in the evening may help offset some of the intolerances and complications associated with diabetes or obesity, which are known to increase late at night Glucose intolerance.

However, Sabbagh emphasized that “exercise is by no means the only solution to the obesity crisis.”

However, research suggests that “people who are able to schedule their activities at specific times of day may be best able to offset some of these health risks,” she said.
