A Delhi court extended the ED custody of BRS leader K Kavitha till March 26.

A Delhi court today extended the custody of BRS leader K Kavitha, an accused in the Delhi excise policy scam case, to March 26 by the Enforcement Directorate.

Federal investigators have sought a five-day extension to her detention.

The education ministry alleged that Ms. Kavitha, the daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, was a key member of the “South Group” that was accused of paying a Rs 100-crore kickback to the AAP in exchange for large quantities of liquor in the state License from the capital.

After taking her to court, the ED said she saw statements from four people and forensic reports of data extracted from her phone. The investigating agency also told the court that raids were underway at her nephew’s house in Hyderabad.

Lawyers for the BRS leader approached the court seeking bail.

Ms Kavitha, 46, a member of the Telangana Legislative Council, was arrested by the central investigation agency from her residence in Hyderabad’s Banjara Hills on March 15.
