Google Pixel 8a may not cost more than its predecessor: Report

Google Pixel 8a is rumored to make its debut at the company’s annual Google I/O conference on May 14. As the expected launch date draws closer, more details about the Pixel 7a successor have surfaced online. A tipster has shared more renders of cases for the upcoming Pixel phones and surprisingly there is a fifth color option. On the other hand, the smartphone is believed to come in only four colors. Another report also states that US prices of phones may not see an increase this year.

Information about the color options comes from tipster @MysteryLupin, who also shared previous renders that showed the phone in four colors – black, beige, blue, and green. on Tuesday he Posted Another set of renders on X (formerly known as Twitter), where the handset’s cases can be seen. But this time there is a surprise.

There is an additional fifth coral pink colorway, which was not included in the previous render. While this development is surprising, it could be that Google could take a step out of Apple’s book and release a coral-colored Pixel 8a later this year when the phone reaches its mid-cycle.

Now, onto the price. New one report SmartPrix claims that there will be no increase in the US price of Google Pixel 8a and the smartphone will be available at $499 (roughly Rs. 41,600) for the 128GB internal storage variant and $599 (roughly Rs. 50,000) for the 256GB variant. For those living in the US, this could prove to be a great value as the new Pixel phones are expected to come with some major upgrades while keeping the price the same.

The same report also predicts that the India price of the smartphone could start from Rs. 44,999 based on last year’s pattern. Last year, the Pixel 7a was sold at a price slightly higher than the actual currency conversion. This is usually done to compensate for additional duties and taxes in the country.

Based on previous reports, the Google Pixel 8a is expected to be equipped with the Google Tensor G3 chipset and get seven years of security updates. It is also rumored to have an OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and all the new AI features that were seen on the Pixel 8 series.
