CNN-News18 Decoding ASI investigative report on Gyanvapi, 55 sculptures of Hindu deities found inside Gyanvapi ASI was commissioned by the Varanasi District Court to determine whether the mosque was “built on the existing structure of a Hindu temple” and concluded : The temple “seems to have been destroyed during the reign of Aurangzeb in the 17th century and parts of it…were modified and reused in the existing structure”. The ASI report, in four volumes, was released on Thursday after the court handed over copies to Hindu and Muslim litigants.
