Cillian Murphy is once again making a living from nonfiction. bloodline coalAdapted from the non-fiction book purchased by Universal Pictures, it will be produced by Oppenheimerwon the Oscar for Best Actor.

The book published in 2020 is titled Bloodshed and Coal: The Jablonsky Murders and Battle of the United Mine Workers of America as inspiration for this project.

In 1969, mining union organizer Joseph “Jock” Yablonski, his wife and daughter were assassinated in their home. Author Mark A. Bradley chronicled his murder in a book.

Jablonski’s crusade against an unscrupulous union leader preceded the killing, which sparked a protracted investigation that exposed questionable activity in the coal industry.

Davis Entertainment and Big Things Films will produce the film, with Jordan and John Davis and Murphy and Alan Moloney serving as producers, respectively. Bradley will serve as executive producer.

After playing the lead role of Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb, in “Oppenheimer,” Murphy is now busier than ever.

In addition to working on the sequel trilogy to 28 Days Later, the 2002 zombie movie that launched his career, he is currently working on the film adaptation of Peaky Blinders, which will follow up his long-running gangster drama.
