Video: China’s highway collapses amid heavy rain, death toll rises to 36

Early Wednesday morning, a rural expressway segment in southeastern China, spanning nearly 60 feet, collapsed due to heavy rain. It claimed 36 lives and injured 30.

Photos revealed a landslide beneath two lanes of the expressway, leaving a gaping hole. Below, vehicles lay scattered, some burned and still smouldering from a fiery overnight blaze, which drew numerous fire trucks to the scene.
