The group behind the theft included two Air Canada passenger employees.

The stolen cargo included 6,600 solid gold bars weighing 400 kilograms and valued at more than $20 million, with a foreign currency value of $2.5 million Canadian.

“At 3:56 pm on April 17, 2023, a flight landed at Pearson International Airport from Zurich, Switzerland, carrying 6,600 0.9999% pure gold cargo, weighing 400 kilograms, worth more than 20 million US dollars and 2.5 million Shortly after the Canadian dollar landed, it was unloaded and transported to another location at the airport,” Peel Regional Police reported.

The shipment went missing. What makes it worth watching on Netflix is that the entire shipment was stolen from an Air Canada cargo facility inside Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.

The theft was reported to Canadian police on April 18, 2023, after the goods arrived in Zurich, Switzerland.

Subsequently, Canadian police cooperated with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to launch an investigation.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of nine people, including some of Indian origin, on charges including theft, possession of property obtained by crime and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

Among those arrested were people of Indian origin, including Parmpal Sidhu, Amit Jalota, Ammad Chaudhary, Ali Raza, Prasath Paramalingam, Simran Preet Panesar, Archit Grover and Arsalan Chaudhary.

Brampton resident Parmpal Sidhu, 54, an Air Canada employee, faces charges of theft over $5,000 and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
