Jagannath Sarkar, a BJP lawmaker from Bengal, claimed that his vehicle was attacked by Trinamool Congress cadres when he was visiting the state’s Nadia district to attend a religious event.

Ranaghat MP, who is being renominated by the BJP in the upcoming polls, claimed that he was rescued by security and party workers during the attack in Chakdarha.

A skirmish broke out between some supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Trinamool Congress in the Chakdarha area, but no major casualties were reported, police said.

“We are investigating the matter. However, no formal complaint has been lodged by either party so far,” said a police officer from Chakdaha police station.
