InterGlobe Aviation Ltd, which operates India’s largest airline IndiGo, expects capacity growth to slow in the fiscal year starting April 1.

The budget airline said in an analyst note on Friday that it expected “early double-digit” capacity growth next year and similar growth in passenger numbers. The pace was below the December quarter’s growth rate and guidance for the current fiscal year.

IndiGo’s capacity increased by nearly 27% in the last quarter, while passenger traffic increased by more than 23%. The airline also said its capacity expansion target was in the “mid-teens” for the year to March 31, carrying more than 100 million passengers.

The airline aims to add more than one aircraft per week to its fleet next year. As of February 29, the company operated 366 aircraft and had an additional 960 on order.

Despite the market decline, IndiGo still dominates India’s domestic aviation market, with its market share falling to around 60% in February from more than 63% in July, data from India’s aviation regulator showed.

IndiGo plans to add 10 new destinations in FY25 and manage a fleet of over 600 aircraft by 2030, with passenger numbers expected to more than double in India by the end of the decade.
