Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, a BJP MP from Kaiserganj and former president of the Wrestling Federation of India, was on Saturday booked for violating the Model Code of Conduct and Proceedings for injunctions.

District Magistrate Neha Sharma said the councilor led a convoy of around 25 to 30 vehicles on Friday without permission and visited several villages in Katra assembly area of ​​the constituency under Khargupur police station .

As a result, Dr Nazmul Islam, who was in charge of the flying team in the Katra market area, filed a case against Mr Singh under the relevant provisions, Ms Sharma said.

The DM said restrictions under Section 144 of the CrPC have been implemented in the district in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and the district administration is committed to abide by the Model Code of Conduct.

Strict action will be taken if anyone violates it, the official added.

Dinesh Singh, in-charge of the police station, said that the relevant departments have registered a case and the investigation has been handed over to Sub-Inspector Mrityunjay Singh.

The BJP is yet to announce its candidate for Kaiserganj seat.
