Ajit Pawar talks sanctions funds

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Wednesday said he was ready to sanction development funds generously as long as people showed the same generosity when they voted for the ruling Mahayutthir alliance. The Nationalist Congress leader struck a lighter tone and later said he was simply appealing to people to vote for the alliance.

Pawar holds finance portfolio in the Shiv Sena-BJP-NCP government.

“… As far as funds are concerned, we will cooperate with you as much as you want, but at the same time, the EVM button needs to be pressed a lot. If the EVM button is pressed a lot, I will also feel good about allocating the funds, otherwise, I Will have to limit ourselves,” he said while addressing a gathering of lawyers and traders in Indapur in the district.

After the event, he told reporters that he only appealed to voters to support Mahayuthy and did not violate the model code of conduct.

However, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut criticized Pawar’s statement, calling him a “dealer” who only makes deals.
