900 million year old grass-eating dinosaur finally found!

A new medium-sized herbivorous dinosaur, which lived in present-day Patagonia in the Late Cretaceous period about 90 million years ago, has been discovered by Argentinian paleontologists.

According to new findings about Chacisaurus, the animal’s tail was unusually curved downwards.

“This new species, Chachisaurus necula, was a bipedal herbivore; among its most important characteristics was a tail that, unlike other dinosaurs, was horizontal, with a downward curvature,” said study author Rodrigo Alvarez.

“This is very new for these animals. Furthermore, it is known that it was a good runner, which it needed because it lived with a large number of predators and its only defense was to be faster than them,” he said. Added.
