A murder convict, who was granted parole, has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman and her minor daughter in Nagpur, an official said on Sunday.

Bharat Goswami (33), a resident of Jaripatka area of ​​the city, was convicted in a murder case in 2014.

He had recently come out on parole, the officer said. Goswami went to the house of a 43-year-old woman known to him on January 25 and allegedly raped her.

He also allegedly sexually assaulted her 14-year-old daughter and threatened to kill the minor if she told him about the crime, the officer said, citing the FIR.

Acting on the woman’s complaint, police arrested Goswami on charges of rape under the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, he said.
