According to police, they received a PCR call at 6 pm on March 26 about two people being stabbed in Harit Vihar area.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) MK Meena said a team was sent to the spot but they found that the injured had been admitted to Burari Hospital.

Meena said: “One of them, Akhilesh Kumar (26), was declared dead after suffering three stab wounds to his upper body. The other injured person was Chandan Kumar ( Chandan Kumar, 42).”

Kumar told police that he, Akhilesh and other workers were doing construction work in Harit Vihar when two drunken men came on a motorcycle and asked them why they were creating cement and dust on the road.

“He told the police that they used abusive language and when Akhilesh and other laborers asked them to stop, they fled the spot,” the DCP said.

After some time, the two, along with other men, stabbed Akhilesh and Kumar, he said.

The police registered an FIR at Burari police station under various sections of the IPC, including murder and attempt to murder.
