India’s Yoki Bambry and his French partner Albano Olivetti defeated third seeds Nicolas Barrientos and Rafael Matos to easily enter the ATP Marrakesh Open Men’s Doubles Semifinals. The unseeded India-France pair defeated Colombia’s Nicolás Barrientos and Brazil’s Rafael Matos 7-6(5) 6 in a quarterfinal match that lasted nearly two hours on Thursday. -7 10-7 narrow victory. They will face second seeds Lucas Midler and Alexander Erler of Austria in the final four stages of the ATP 250 event. The quarter-finals were evenly matched, with each team accounting for 50% of the total points. Bambry and Olivetti had 10 aces, while their opponents had only three. Bambry is teaming up with Olivetti for the first time this season, having previously competed in most of the games with Robin Haas of the Netherlands.

The Indian was paired with former partner Michael Venus from New Zealand at the Miami Masters and they crashed out in the first round.

Bambry’s best performance of the season came at the ATP 500 Dubai, where the Indian and Haas reached the semi-finals of the qualifying round and gained a crucial 225 ranking points.

The 31-year-old Bhambri, ranked 62nd, is India’s second-ranked player behind world number one Rohan Bopanna.

It remains to be seen whether Bopanna will choose Bhambri as his partner for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
