Former India batsman Manoj Tiwary feels Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Mayank Yadav is ready to represent India later this year T20 World Cup. Tiwari’s remarks came after the Delhi-born pacer bowled out the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsmen with his fastball. He clocked a speed of 156.7 km/h and bowled the fastest pitch in the ongoing competition, and overall the fourth-fastest pitch in the entire history of the tournament. In his first two IPL games for LSG, Mayank took 6 wickets and conceded just 41 runs.

After the match between RCB and LSG, Tiwary said that if he were the selector, he would have picked Mayank as India’s third-choice pacer after Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami.

“If I were in Ajit Agarkar’s position, I would put him in. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami and then him. Look at it. Former India batsman Virender Sehwag also weighed in on the discussion and he also hopes Mayank can play for the Indian team after the IPL, provided he stays healthy.

“The difference between Mayank and Umran is that his lines are accurate. Umran is also fast but he cannot improve his lines and lengths. Mayank is accurate with his lines and lengths. He knows very well that he has speed but if ‘if my Get the line wrong and I might throw in the towel. Based on this alone, I feel that if he stays fit, he should play international cricket after the IPL,” Sehwag added.

In the match against RCB, Mayank took brilliant figures of 3/14, which earned him his second consecutive Man of the Match award.
