Yoko Ono responds to speculation about John Lennon's bad habits

Yoko Ono once admitted that she taught John Lennon how to take heroin.

Her admission is excerpted from the Beatles’ oral history book, all you need is loveby sharing sunday timeswhich includes interviews with Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr after Lennon’s death in the 1980s.

However, Ono denied accusations from Lennon’s bandmates that she “put John on the H”.

While she acknowledged that she advised Lennon on how to take heroin, she noted that he “wouldn’t take anything unless he wanted to.”

She recalled that she “smelled” heroin while in Paris and experienced “a wonderful feeling.”

“It was just a nice feeling. So I told John,” she said.

In a 1970 interview with Rolling Stone, Lennon recounted his first experience using heroin.

“When we’re in real pain, we sniff a little bit. Everyone gave us a hard time, and Yoko and I, especially Yoko, were hurt a lot. Like Peter Brown from our office — and you can put this in — six months later we came in and he came down and shook my hand and didn’t even say hello to her. It kept happening.”
