Yemen’s Houthis said on Sunday they had fired rockets and drones at British, American and Israeli ships, the latest attack on shipping in support of the Palestinians in the Gaza war.

The Iran-aligned group said it attacked a British ship and several U.S. frigates in the Red Sea, and two Israeli ships heading to Israeli ports in the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean.

Houthi spokesman Yahya Sarri said in a televised statement that the operations were carried out within the past 72 hours, but did not provide further details of the attacks.

Britain and the United States have also been launching retaliatory strikes against the Houthis.

U.S. forces destroyed a mobile surface-to-air missile system in an area controlled by Houthi rebels in Yemen on Saturday, U.S. Central Command said.

The U.S. military also shot down a drone over the Red Sea, the statement said, adding that a coalition ship also spotted, engaged and destroyed an incoming anti-ship missile. No injuries or damage were reported.

Earlier, British security company Ambrey said it had received information indicating that a ship was attacked in the Gulf of Aden on Sunday, about 102 nautical miles southwest of Mukalla, Yemen.

“Nearby vessels are advised to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity,” the company said. It did not say who was responsible for the attack or provide further details.

Separately, the British Maritime Trade Operations Agency said that a missile fell near a ship in the Gulf of Aden on Sunday, but the ship was not damaged and the crew was not injured in the incident, which was 59 nautical miles southwest of the Yemeni port of Aden. .

“The master reported that a missile struck the waters close to the ship’s port area,” UKMTO said in an advisory. “No damage to the vessel was reported and the crew reported safe,” the statement added.

It did not say who launched the missile or provide further details. It is unclear whether the attack reported by the British agency is the same as the latest incident claimed by the Houthis.

The Houthi attack disrupted global shipping through the Suez Canal, forcing companies to reroute to longer, more expensive voyages around southern Africa. The United States and Britain have launched strikes against Houthi rebel targets in Yemen.
