Jailed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and wife of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren met in Delhi today amid speculation that Sunita Kai Jerewal is likely to take over the top job.

Sunita Kejriwal launched a campaign titled ‘Kejriwal ko aashirwad’ on behalf of Arvind Kejriwal in a video announcement earlier this week and asked people to share the message through the WhatsApp number she provided.

The video prompted a response from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, with Union Minister Hardeep Puri saying Sunita Kejriwal was “preparing for the role of chief minister”.

Sunita Kejriwal is a former Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer who has worked in the Income Tax Department for 22 years. She met Arvind Kejriwal during her training program in Bhopal. She is from the 1994 batch while Arvind Kejriwal is a police officer of the 1995 batch.

She voluntarily retired in 2016. Her last posting was as Commissioner of Income Tax in the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, Delhi.
