Why Madhya Pradesh independent candidate pays Rs 25,000 coin guarantee

He said there is no facility for payment through online mode at the Collector’s Office (Representative)

Jabalpur:

On Wednesday, a Jabalpur resident who planned to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls walked into the collection office carrying Rs 25,000 in coins as a deposit while collecting the nomination form.

Vinay Chakraborty, who wants to contest the Jabalpur polls as an independent candidate, paid Rs 25,000 as a deposit in denominations of Rs 10, Rs 5 and Rs 2 coins.

“I paid Rs 25,000 in Rs 10, Rs 5 and Rs 2 coins,” he told reporters.

Chakraborty said the collector’s office did not have the facility to pay through digital or online modes, so he paid the amount using coins he had with him.

“I want to contest the Lok Sabha elections as an independent candidate,” he said.

Jabalpur district election officer-cum-collector Deepak Kumar Saxena told reporters that the payment in coins from the potential candidate had been received and a receipt was provided to him.

The nomination process for the first phase of the Lok Sabha polls began on Wednesday.

Six seats in Madhya Pradesh will go to polls in the first phase on April 19.
