Whoopi Goldberg reveals shocking details about her parents in new memoir

Whoopi Goldberg recently revealed that she was raised by her single mother because her father abandoned his family.

However, Whoopi recalled that when she later asked her mother how she knew about her sexuality, she did not say much.

Over the years, Whoopi’s estranged father Robert reportedly died in May 1993 and is believed to have worked as a pastor. However, he also worked as a diamond merchant and postal worker.

Meanwhile, Whoopi also opened up about her mother’s mental condition after which she had to be hospitalized for two years.

It was during this time that the actress and host wrote that her father and grandfather came forward to help the family.

Whoopi said that writing her memoir was “a hard thing sometimes, because it was almost as hard to do because it was like losing them again”.
