UP school bus overturns, killing 4, injuring 32: police

Four people, including three children, were killed when a school bus overturned near Sarapur village in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, police said. Thirty-two children were injured.

They said the accident happened in the evening when they were returning to Suratganj after having a picnic in Lucknow.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (ASP) Akhilesh Narayan said the bus was speeding and trying to save a motorcycle rider when it swerved and overturned. Police said four of the 32 injured children were referred to medical facilities in Lucknow by local hospitals.

They said the bus conductor and three children aged between 12 and 13 were killed in the accident.

The bus belongs to Harakka Comprehensive School in Suratganj. Narayan added that the children had come to Lucknow for a picnic.
