Fatehpur district in Uttar Pradesh has been in the headlines recently due to a bizarre news story. A fight breaks out between relatives of the bride and groom. The incident took place on January 30 during a wedding at Aksa Marriage Lawn in Faridpur in Kotwali Bindki district. The procession of groom Ranjeet Kumar arrived at the wedding hall from Dhakoli village in Radha Nagar police station area. While dancing at the event, a minor argument broke out that quickly escalated into a fight. People were injured in the fighting. The groom’s party was angered by this incident and suddenly returned without completing the wedding ceremony. The father of the bride informed the Joniha outpost who was in charge of the matter. Sub-Inspector Alok Tiwari, in-charge of Jonihar police outpost, assured the aggrieved party that they will look into the matter. They contacted the groom’s family and successfully persuaded them to return to the venue and hold a grand wedding. Police have won praise for their unconventional role as mediators when the 22-year-old bride’s wedding suffered setbacks.

Kotwali Bindki CO Sushil Mishra told a news portal that an argument broke out between the bride and groom’s families at a hotel in Faridpur on the evening of January 30. He said that after the police arrived at the scene, they successfully resolved the dispute between the two parties and the wedding was held subsequently. The bride’s father, Raj Bahadur, expressed his gratitude to the police team for their help in his daughter’s wedding. Police and other officials remained at the wedding venue until all ceremonies were completed.

Yet there are few who fail to admire government intervention in such matters. One netizen commented that the police will also intervene in other family disputes in the future.
