UP district judge’s wife’s valuables worth Rs 15 missing from her checked luggage, airline staff booked

Manju Singh, wife of Uttar Pradesh Moradabad District Magistrate (DM) Manvendra Singh, has filed a case against staff of a reputed airline after her checked baggage was Cash and jewelery worth Rs 15 lakh “went missing” on January 28 while she was on her way to Hyderabad from Delhi.

“We have registered a First Information Report (FIR) under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other related charges against the unidentified employees of the airline,” station office official Ramprasad Sharma said, Civil Lines Police Station, Moradabad.

According to the FIR, the incident took place around 11 pm when Singh was about to board a flight to Hyderabad from Terminal 3 of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. “When I was getting ready to board the plane, a flight attendant or some official at the airport approached me and asked me to hand over my carry-on bag and said that the bag would be sent via cargo and I could collect it at my destination. There was value in the bag 15 lakh in cash and jewellery. “After I boarded the flight, the officer also handed me this document,” Singh said in the FIR. “

The FIR further stated that after reaching the destination, when she asked the officials about her handbag, they told her to collect it from belt number 37. However, after a long wait, when she asked officials, she was told she would be informed of the status of her luggage within a week. However, a week later, when she didn’t get a satisfactory response from the airline, she decided to file a complaint.

Manvendra Singh said, “The airport officials collected the luggage while boarding the flight. However, it was never returned. We have lodged an FIR and the matter is being investigated.”
