UK Home Office launches social media campaign in Vietnam to stop illegal immigration

The UK Home Office has launched a social media campaign in Vietnam to stop migrants entering the UK illegally.

From Monday 25 March, the campaign will use ads on Facebook and YouTube to target people in South East Asian countries who may be considering traveling to the UK illegally.

The Home Office said a growing number of small boat migrants were Vietnamese, one of the top 10 nationalities illegally crossing the Channel.

It added that the ads would “outline the liabilities and risks of exploitation by people smuggling gangs who profit from facilitating small boat crossings”.
