Police have released the name of an 88-year-old man who died after a collision with two vehicles while riding an electric scooter.

George Johnston was taken to hospital following a crash in Paisley on Monday. died soon after.

Sergeant Robert McKee said: “Our thoughts remain with George’s family and friends at this difficult time.”

The incident, which also involved a red Volkswagen Golf and a red Vauxhall Astra, happened on Gauze Street at the intersection with Silk Street at around 8pm.

The road was closed for approximately seven hours to allow for investigative work.

Sgt McKee added: “Inquiries are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact us.

“We are also asking anyone with dash cam footage of the area at the time to come forward.”
