The Police Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested two Bangladeshi citizens from Maharashtra’s Navi Mumbai town for allegedly staying in India illegally, an official said on Sunday.

The duo, both 24 years old, were arrested on Friday from Khidukpada village in Nadve, Panvel, officials of the Cyber ​​Police Station said.

The ATS team, while checking the Khidukpada area, found the duo living in a hut (terraced house).

He said they did not provide any valid entry documents during interrogation.

However, police said both men had Aadhaar cards, voter ID cards and driving licenses in their names.

A case was registered against them under the Passport (Entry to India) Rules, 1950 and the Foreigners Act on Saturday.

The official said local police have launched an investigation into the matter to determine their activities and any potential links to illegal immigration networks.
