South Africa and Kings XI Punjab pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada has been impressed with Mayank Yadav’s raw pace and accuracy and sees the fast bowler as a “potential pick” for India’s T20 World Cup squad. The 21-year-old from Delhi is breaking the speed barrier in every game and on Tuesday night he clocked a blistering 156.7 kmph against Royal Challengers Bangalore. It was his second consecutive man-of-the-match performance in his debut season, leading Lucknow Supergiants to a convincing victory.

Last week, Rabada’s team Kings XI Punjab were at the receiving end of Mayank’s short delivery, with the debutant hitting the ball three times at his blistering pace. One of the best pacers in the sport, the South African also spoke of Mayank’s exceptional accuracy.

“He has something that you can’t buy, which is raw rhythm. That’s what he’s exploiting and exploiting very well,” Rabada told PTI.

“The distance he hits the ball, his plan is clear and now batsmen will realize what he brings to the party, but it’s clear he has tremendous pace and it seems he can control where he wants to bowl the ball.

“When you have the rhythm and the control and he understands his role. So when you know that, it’s no surprise that he performed like this,” Rabada said.

Mayank has played just two games in the IPL but his name has been widely discussed as a potential option in the Indian team for the United States and Caribbean T20 World Cup. Rabada also believes he cannot be ignored.

“At this stage he looks hot and I have no doubt the selectors will see him as a potential player in the squad but that’s none of my business. From what I understand he will definitely be seen as a potential player s Choice”.

Applicable to every match of this IPL

IPL 2024 takes on greater significance as it is the tournament ahead of the T20 World Cup in June, where Rabada will try to help South Africa win the elusive ICC title.

But until then, he remains fully committed to Kings XI Punjab for this season’s campaign.

“My goal is to play every game and make myself available for every game in the IPL. The rest depends on the coach and management.”

“Before the World Cup, if I get selected, I would love to be a part of it. The IPL will definitely be a test to see where you are now, see where you can do better and review. “In the meantime, we are also To try and win games for Kings XI Punjab. ” Rabada came closest to winning the IPL title when Delhi Capitals reached the final in 2020. Rabada is keen on winning the South Africa and IPL titles and he hopes to achieve the double within the next three months.

His standout South Africa teammate Quinton de Kock has divided opinions when he says the IPL is the most important thing he has won in his career after lifting the trophy with Mumbai Indians. Rabada won’t go that far, but for him, the IPL is by far the biggest prize in the world of franchise cricket.

“IPL is the biggest T20 league in the world after ICC events. It seems to be a growing league attracting the best players in the world.” He (De Kock) is right…IPL is definitely the biggest OK I still think country takes precedence over whatever type of league you play in.

“However, winning the Indian Premier League would be a huge achievement and a tick on our wish list. We were very close in Delhi but now in Punjab, we hope that this year Become our year.” Speaking of the season so far, he added: “What’s missing is the performance of the team, we have the team, we have the players and every player has to take responsibility.”

Rabada wants two bouncer rule in international cricket too

The 28-year-old also feels that the two bouncers per over rule introduced in this season’s IPL should also be taken to the highest level.

“I don’t see why not, it balances the game more. As you can see, there are a lot of scores and the wickets are better. It makes the game more interesting,” he opined.

“It makes batsmen and bowlers think more about the game. It adds more strategy. From a fans’ point of view, it adds another talking point. As a cricketer, it gives you more job opportunities, it allows batsmen to find new ways to deal with the short ball.

“If you use it to your advantage, like Mayank (LSG) used it, it suits him very well. Every team can use it as a weapon in their arsenal,” Rabada opined.
