plaid cymru Leader Roon ap Iorwerth said he supports “the principle of a wider 20mph zone” but that it has been implemented “very poorly and inconsistently”.

“The Welsh Government must now step up and sort this out, working with local authorities and communities to ensure that the limits are properly reviewed and the unfair 20mph is removed,” he said.

Campaign group 20’s Plenty for Us said the review should aim to “clarify” rather than “weaken” the guidance.
