'The transition to low carbon is urgently needed': Director of Adani Green Energy Gallery

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) announced on Tuesday its sponsorship of the London Science Museum’s (LSM) latest exhibition, the Energy Revolution Gallery, a partnership aimed at highlighting the global transition to renewable energy.

The unveiling of the gallery marks an important step in raising awareness of the urgent need to combat climate change through sustainable energy practices.

Oliver Carpenter, Curator of Infrastructure and the Built Environment at London’s Science Museum, shares insights into the importance of the Energy Revolution gallery and the key role it plays in tackling the climate crisis.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Mr Carpenter elaborated on the essence of the gallery, saying: “This is a gallery about the most pressing issues of our time. To avoid the worst impacts of climate change, we need to urgently move towards low carbon , energy source and use transformation.”

“So in this gallery we have a real mix of compelling contemporary technology displays and some historical objects from the Science Museum’s collection,” he further said.

“We care about millions of objects, so we’ve brought some of the latest and greatest to this exhibition, as well as some stories and objects that tell the history of the current low-carbon energy transition,” he added.

Mr Carpenter further elaborated on the various displays in the gallery, ranging from contemporary technology to historical artifacts, all of which emphasize the need for renewable energy solutions.

Looking back on the gallery’s origins, Mr. Carpenter emphasized the critical importance of the current decade in promoting global action on sustainable development.

He highlighted the role of low-carbon energy sources such as solar, wind and nuclear power in shaping a more sustainable future.

Mr Carpenter said: “We are in a critical decade for action around the world if we can seize the opportunity now to harness these great low-carbon energy sources, from solar to wind and perhaps nuclear to different forms of Low-carbon energy and transitioning to those and then using those in our daily lives, from transportation to the way we build, heat and cool buildings in a low-carbon way, then we can reduce humanity’s impact on the planet, Towards a more sustainable future.”

He added, “That’s what this gallery really highlights, the stories from the UK and around the world of people, individuals or communities, companies, imagining these low-carbon futures and the actions they are taking to get there.”

He explained that the gallery showcases stories from around the world where individuals, communities and companies are leading the way in taking action to embrace a low-carbon future and reduce humanity’s impact on the planet.

In response to a query about Adani’s Green Energy contribution, Mr Carpenter highlighted the company’s commitment to renewable energy and low-carbon technologies.

He highlighted how AGEL’s sponsorship of the gallery aligns with its ambition to become a leading renewable energy company and highlighted the themes celebrated in the exhibition.
