Zoom launches Workplace, an AI-powered collaboration platform

Popular video conferencing app Zoom on Monday announced the launch of a new platform called Zoom Workplace. According to the company, Zoom Workplace is an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered platform designed to streamline workspace communication and improve collaboration within and across teams. The video calling platform is leveraging its artificial intelligence assistant, AI Companion, which will also get new features. The new platform will also redesign the entire meeting experience and expand the capabilities of team chat. Earlier this year, Zoom launched a new app for Apple Vision Pro to make virtual meetings more immersive.

Zoom also launched a new Ask AI Companion feature, which allows users to ask questions and assign basic tasks to the assistant. To answer queries, it will use data from across the platform and “select third-party applications.”

The overall meeting experience for pre-call, during-call and post-call environments has also been redesigned. Zoom added a new Meeting tab, which comes with calendar support and a detailed view showing the entire meeting lifecycle and all files and information shared before and during the meeting. The meeting interface has also been redesigned, including a simplified toolbar, a multi-speaker view that highlights the current speaker, and four color themes to choose from.

Team chat It is also being improved from a simple communication tool to a mature collaboration space. Users will be able to easily view channel-related assets, whiteboards, and resources in a single view. Additionally, they can chat and use these tools at the same time.

Zoom is integrating other services such as Zoom Phone, employee engagement solutions, Workvivo and Zoom Rooms with Zoom Workplace. Zoom Rooms, the communication tool for hybrid meetings, is also getting some new features. The company plans to add smart name tags, so instead of putting each office attendee in a separate box, just add a name tag to them.

Zoom Workplace will be released in April, but a launch date has not yet been announced. According to the company, the suite will be available for free to paying subscribers. Zoom Pro is the most affordable paid plan of the platform and is priced at Rs. 13,200 a year.
