Agra:
79-year-old Hasnuram Ambedkari made headlines with his decision to contest the 99th election, a remarkable feat by any standards.
Although Ambedkari has faced defeat in 98 elections since 1985, he continues to contest elections.
This time, he approaches the centenary milestone from Fatehpur Sikri with high hopes. However, fate dealt him a blow and Fatehpur Sikri’s nomination was rejected.
Ambedkari’s family recognizes his unwavering passion for electoral participation, respects his determination and supports his pursuit.
Ambedkari, a former clerk and MNREGA worker, funded his campaign entirely from his own resources.
“Contesting elections is my passion and I pursue it at my own expense. I do not seek financial assistance or support from anyone. I know I will not win but that does not stop me from contesting the polls,” he said.
Ambedkari was keenly aware that time waits for no one and he was determined to achieve his goals.
“I am committed to achieving a century and I also know that I am getting older. I will achieve my goal before I go,” he said confidently.
