Guwahati:
Assam police arrested the owner of a dhaba in Bongaigaon district of the state for putting up posters and flags of Khalistan leaders.
A banner of terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala was hung at a roadside restaurant owned by Gurmukh Singh. Posters and Khalistan flags of singer and politician Sidhu Moose Wala, who was shot dead in 2022, were also put up.
Sources said members of the youth wing of the BJP informed the police about the posters, following which the owner of the dhaba was arrested.
Police sources said Gurmukh Singh hails from Tarn Taran district in Punjab and has been living in Assam for many years.
“We suspect that he displayed these posters in his darbar to attract truck drivers, a large section of whom are from Punjab. Otherwise, it would be unreasonable for him to put up such material,” another police officer said.
