Former Chennai Super Kings batsman Suresh Raina remains one of the most successful players in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Raina spent most of her IPL career with CSK and tasted success in the T20 league. While Chennai have had a strong team almost throughout their IPL journey, their culture has also helped the management get the best out of their players. One such culture includes a rule of not partying until late. (IPL 2024 Points Table)

In an interview, Raina took a subtle dig at teams that are yet to win the IPL, saying that only those teams that have not won the (league) title are used to partying.

“Chennai never party. That’s why they are the most successful. There are 2-3 teams that have partyed and haven’t won the IPL yet. lol (you mean RCB?). No, there are some teams Haven’t won yet, they must be having a lot of fun,” Suresh Raina said in a chat at Lallantop.

“We (CSK) have not done that. That’s why we have 5 IPL trophies and 2 Champions League trophies. MI has also won 5 trophies,” he further added.

Raina pointed to the culture of late-night parties at some franchises. The former India star did not hesitate to question how a team can win the IPL with such a trend.

“If you play until late at night, how do you play in the morning? In the hot weather of May and June, you play all night, how do you play in the afternoon?” Reina added.

“The entire team is particular about not partying till late night. Remember, we are playing for India too. If I didn’t play well, why would my captain choose me? Now, I am free and I have retired.” We You can party,” Raina further explained.

Raina, one of the best run-getters in the history of IPL, is currently enjoying his career as a commentator in the ongoing IPL 2024 tournament.
